I fingered her hot
summer dime in
my palm lint warming feet
fondling the neon
beam of midtown on fallen
flyers concrete midnight pigeons
my secret hand
awhirl with remembering—
lips glinting at the middle
spot fountain Lincoln Center knees
weak with future closer than kissing white
violet carnival flash
and palms mirrored
in the cotton pit—
On the train I
rode horizontal blue vinyl dime bright
the watchful amber of passing
platforms my heart
pumping Ferris wheels and carousels
toward home. |
