Howard Camner

WALKING WITH THE NEIGHBOR’S CAT AROUND THE BLOCK

We didn’t have much to say to each other
the neighbor’s cat and me
It didn’t seem necessary to talk
With only a few lives left between us
each step was a miracle
and what happened on our journey will never be told
All that matters is that we ended up where we began

Howard Camner is the author of 17 poetry books and an autobiography. His most recent book is Poems from the Mud Room: Collected Works 1976 – 2012. In April he will be inducted into the Miami Dade College Hall of Fame for Literary Arts.
