FALL 2007

FALL 2007

Courtney J. Campbell

PERFECT CHARITY

laid out like a farmer
laid out like a hero
laid out like a hammock sleeper
after a Church supper

with a little smile of content
of one who has found harvest
 in a seed sacrificed

with a little smile of content
of one who has felt an orgasm
in a water drop

with a little smile of content
of one whose hands have found
death in Bolivia

laid out like Jesus
with a water drop orgasm
a final crucified contradiction
laid out like a hero

do not let your corpse know
what your hands are tilling
so that your giving might be
buried in the earth

the death of all martyrs
sprouts green from red dirt
