RURAL LIFE

Marry your high school sweetheart
join the reserves to serve
To show your might
deploy to fight
the poppy farmers that Ivan couldn’t defeat
Watch your battle buddy die
from the hands of a peasant
holding a Kalashnikov
Return home to work the farm
Mortgage your life away
to own some land
Die defeated when
the rain won’t come
Ain’t life grand?
