Northport Celebrates Jack


"Northport Celebrates Jack," a CD Tribute to Jack Kerouac by regional poets, accompanied by David Amram on piano, drums, flutes and other instruments.

Among the readers are George Wallace, Kate Kelly, Kate Dellis, Jackie Moss, RS Plath, Sue Pilewski and BJ Cassidy. Jack Kerouac lived in Northport LI off and on from 1958 to 1964, a period when he continued to write significant works (Big Sur, Lonesome Traveler) and deal with the challenges of public notoriety.

Prominent Beat figures like Neal Cassady, Robert Frank, Allen Ginsberg and others visited him in his adopted home, a small town on the North Shore of Long Island where Jack first purchased a home for his mother on the proceeds of the publication of On The Road.
