WINTER 2007

Lynn Carol Cohen
STOLEN IMAGES

Pajamed and pampered
pram pusher in tow
Plandome long past,
he called you “Da-Da”
decades ago
grams of notes
floated
ice-smoked snow
slid hours away,
and he was grown.
leaving empty places
we have all known
now the Southern Cross anticipates:
wet, humid mornings
summer’s beloved moorings
mallards' green-peak plumage
preening in my last season
and fading like molting feathers
at fall break
