BORDERS

The sun hits the hills
above Nogales,
rebounds off the fence
that separates two lands,
while Chihuahuan ravens fly
north and south overhead,
glint of light filtering through
their inky feathers.

White pelicans catch
thermals over the borders
between Gaza and Israel,
Red-crowned cranes fly over
North and South Korea
and Golden eagles glide
between Iran and Iraq,
the moon and sun
spreading light over all of us.
