METHADONE MOTHER

It starts
When
A murder
crows and caws

winged black curses
across your plans

A baby
Forms
in Opiated waters
Small fists
Clutching
For more

The mother stumbles
On the smallest
Blade of grass or grain
Her shoes have forgotten
Simple walking

Wheel of fortune spins
In her eyes
Nothing will stay in focus

Until the spin slows to a stop
And the baby is born

A bundle
Of jangled crosswire
