FALL/ WINTER 2012

DROPLETS OF LATE JULY

The alphabet
Fell from the sky
In a literary cloudburst

Quickly
I held out my cap
Snaring the wet letters
In the reservoir
Of its discolored peak

Words and phrases
Began to emerge swiftly
Overflowing my shabby hat
And pouring to the ground
To form a deep puddle
Of regal poetry
At my feet

Some days
Creating this
Is as effortless
As a promenade

In cool rain
