You were Jonny Jonathan JonaTan
so sweet the young boy
You were nine when you asked in that voice of concern
Will we be friends dad, you and i when we die?
reassuring your kind heart through our play
it was pong ping that we played on that day
good backhand, nice slice, good shot and return
can you still hit a ball can you still play the sax
i know you’ve grown tall is your spirit so small or too lax
Is there a Who inside You
Haven't you looked in at all
You were trapped had to cope you were weak mild and meek
family and friends, any/all connections to me
you shut down just don't speak
You were Jonny Jonathan JonaTan
you were Jonny JonaTan Jonathan
so silent one
little boy of long ago
oh distant one
You were Jonny JonaTan JonaTone
frosted face broken heart apart alone
You were Jonny JonaTone and JonaTan
i have never stopped missing that lost little boy
never stopped loving my incomplete man
