FALL/ WINTER 2014

VORTEX

I was dreaming about
how you felt
so long ago:
a tangle of hair
bare chest
limbs everywhere
until you appeared
outside my sleep
on your way to church
another man seeped in sin,
inquiring about dinner.
And asking if I still loved you
despite the passing years
still cared
regardless of fear and
how hard I tried not to

If only you knew
you are my awakening thought
in every early morning haze
and permeate my days

I was confused about
the day; the year was unclear.
If it were the present, what were you doing here?
If it were the past, how was my memory so clear?
