FOUR POEMS from LINDA CLEARY
WHO KNOWS WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE

I'm sticking to a version aversion cant stand to think of alternatives have to think up some alternatives stuck here right here turn right here what's happening tonight is anything happening is there anything any one thing

you know i never expected to hear from you never expected who wants expectations i'm always hoping but never expecting but behind the chatter i'm hoping for it all hoping but not believing believe in nothing

nothing and no-one no-one and nothing is what i say to myself when i try to feel independent because you know how easy it is these days to get co-dependent one look and you're hooked

it's worse than smoking but no-one is talking about it on the late night news

no-one is talking

and you are all so comfortable you have all gone and got it all got it havin' it roll around in it get in touch with me just so i know you got it just so you know i got nothing and no-one

but heh ho i'm a big shot big hot potato in the city in the city i'm a big potato

you said you lost your mobile you said you'd never be my man you said you were the best i'd ever get you said i ate too noisily you said you were confused you said i was beautiful you said i was amazing you said you
loved me

 you said you loved me

Linda Cleary is a performer - poet - writer - artist, based in the UK, who has been writing poetry and prose for over 20 years & creating non-traditional, diverse performances, at times utilising music and film, since 2000. Her performance poetry and style has been seen as unique, strong, raw and challenging; 'Powerful, uncompromising, rhythmic verse...Tough, lyrical beauty. Packs poetic punches, with aching sensitivity. A unique new voice. If you need a comparison, think...a young Joolz Denby, laced with Patti Smith overtones.' (Apples&Snakes 05) She has been selected to be writer in residence in August 07 at Can Serrat International Art Centre in Barcelona.
