A dust devil
stalks the plaza
peels up paperscrap
loose tobacco
and red dust gathered from the four directions
by the winds of the four directions.
The dust devil whirls
now the size of a man
now the size of a larger man
now twice the size of a man
and now disperses like a man dismembered
and settles the dust
among the dust-colored adobes of the pueblo.
