Translations - George Wallace

RECOLLECTION

Some things I could never have forgotten
each memory
each bromade in bamboo
each fallen mango
i was unable to digest
each piece of French history

and a flute

a reed flute
playing dull songs, the songs of slaves...
while oxen on the savanna wisely ruminate
while zombies gyrate around them
while they ejaculate the owners of factories
while the good Negro lengthens his noose by ten to fifteen
factory hours.
