ANDY’S BLUES

Russ says
  Sax Andy
stole from the store
and was fired, had a habit,
   moved from music
store to music store
for years, then landed
  on the street in KC,
haven’t heard from him.
“Sorry to hear it,” I say,
“Sorry for the both of you.”
Andy, he’d given me a CD,
   and I wanted
to pay him
   or give it back.
No use
   now.

coda:
How am I
so different? I take
pills the doctor orders,
and can’t go long
   without.
