NUDE DESCENDING AN OIL RIG:
DUCHAMP’S DEEP WATER HORIZON

Blue black sky burnt siena
by flecks of fire in descending
arcs over deep water horizon
fouled by a pea green soup
colored wash; after the blow out,
a charred body stripped of clothes
flailing polluted air, seeking purchase
of flames where there is none.

Alan Catlin has published dozens of chapbooks and books of poetry and prose. Among the more recent books, "Near Death in the Afternoon on Becker Street" and "Self-Portrait of the Artist Afraid of His Self-Portrait" both from March Street Press.
