IMAGISME - a jeu d'esprit

so much depends
     upon
      the appari-
-tion
of these faces
   on
      little cat feet

but what happened
                 to those damn
   petals
             on
                 the white chickens
      in the foggy
 metro station?


Walter Raubicheck teaches English at Pace University in Manhattan. His special interests include Whitman, Kerouac, and the Beat poets.
